bank makes mistake in my favor

I recently deposited in one transaction 2 amounts in an investment account that I own.

Both transactions were of equal amounts; but when I transfered the funds it hung for a while.

Suddenly though I had access to the money, but the money still hadn't transfered!

Well a while passed then suddenly I got a message that the two transactions cleared. The money in the account was equal to both transactions + 1 (both transactions were the same). Now my bank account was equal to the first (non existent transaction) and the two cleared transactions!

There is no record of my transaction, just my account is larger.

Anyway in this investment account I accidentally spent the money (I thought I was in a different account at the time).

So... what do I do? if I "fix" my problem by selling stuff I'll lose money on the transaction which shouldn't have happened in the first place.

Or do I just wait to see if the bank finds the problem...

This error has been in place for almost a week and the bank hasn't caught it yet.

Yesterday I went out by Fritz Cove road on those rocks. I managed to forget one shoe! But I went climbing with Torsten, Debbie, Sarah and a new guy who showed up by the name of Eric. I had a good time, even though it was really hard climbing with only one climbing shoe.

Also I twisted my foot a little bit on the way down.

Watch those rocks - last year someone fell and had to be MEDEVAC'd out ...

Running from the law! (and the law won)

Several years ago in 1999 in the winter I was working on the project in Nevada with Data Engineering. It was late that night when some people in the office wanted soda. I got into my 1970 white chevelle with Kyle Smith to go to the local convenience store on South Virginia.

Kyle Suggested that I scrape my windows; unfortunately I didn't listen to his advice, I now know it was VERY good advice. I decided since he told me it was across the street to just go after all it was a very short run and I wouldn't be caught driving such a short way... after all the temperature was very very very cold.

So I went.

I got pulled over. I got a careless driving citation with a 300 dollar ticket.

Fastforward several years to the year 2007.

Today is a thursday, except for a boring meeting it is going pretty well. I need to renew my drivers license because my birthday is coming up. Sarah sent me a message on wednesday saying she's going to the DMV today, so I have to be in her office at 11:30.

I get there and we both go out to the DMV.

When my drivers license is renewed they run the drivers license through this national system which states publish if they revoke a person by their social security number.

I had a flag which said, no license available deny all licenses nationwide to Myron Davis.

The DMV wanted me in Nevada.

badly.

I had to call immediately to Nevada to get it straightened out.

Nevada DMV sucks.

really really bad.

I hate it.

eventually after leaving voice mail messages and talking to various people who couldn't help me I got a phonecall back.

I paid my fine in 1999 a couple of days late and I got a $5 late fee attached to it.

The lady on the phone (who seemed quite busy), didn't want to spend the time talking with me in order to get it paid etc... she cleared out the fine and said that it'll update the national system in about 48 hours and I can renew my drivers license.

morale of the story:

computerization sucks, this fine had been sitting at the Reno PD for YEARS in their local system until eventually the State of Nevada computerized and linked the different county offices and published the information to the national grid. What is interesting is I did DMV stuff 5 years ago in Nevada and this never came up.

rest of the day: went climbing with Torsten, Debbie and Sarah (I'm getting better and I had a really good time!).

Then I did dance lessons with Debbie. I am SOO happy; it is really neat to know that I'm getting better at something which I had no desire in doing in the past and it's pretty fun too. I still have a long ways to go but I'm happy Debbie asked me to go because it is expanding my horizons!.

So concludes this thursday.

Myron - you wreckless driver you!
Somehow, wreckless and you don't really seem to go together.
Glad you got it straightened out.

Good for you for dealing with the DMV so rationally!

And good for you for keeping up with the dance lessons! I'm sure you and Debbie are uber fantastic dancers. :)

Today is a great day

Today is a great day

With this blog entry we'll only go back one week...

I am so lucky in that I have all of the great friends that I have.

Last Friday Brenda took me out and we got all of the supplies for the party on saturday.

Went around costco picking up items, then went out to Papa Murphy's to get some pizza... Papa Murphy's was very disorganized... we ended up waiting 40+ minutes. Anyway went over to Gotschalks and I got some new NON-PLEATED black pants. Evidently my current pleated black pants are totally out of style! (who knew!)

Also I got a new tie... so now I have a new outfit, I'm calling it the "Brenda Outfit". It included non-pleated black pants, black shirt, and a "Brenda Tie"

Then on Saturday I went up with Brenda and went snowboarding all day. I had a lot of fun. Brenda is really cool to do stuff with (and I'm going tommorrow too.. i.e. one week from this saturday).

After snowboarding I was at my house and I cleaned up the house... Andrea came by a bit earlier and everything wasn't up to the level that Andrea needed. BUT! I did everything I could and moved stuff around. Andrea is the KING of party planning! (she even wrote the invitation email out from my email account!...)

and it seems that I am always meeting more great people too!

I had a party at my house (2nd ever); to try it out and I had a GREAT time, everyone who came made it a fabulous event for me. I hope everyone else had a good time too.

I really enjoyed playing Turbo Cranium!

The guests that made it were:
Jason Soza
Amanda Gellhouse
Sarah Cunningham
Debbie Maas
Annie Smith
Sulie Croan
Andrea Browning
Brenda Brown

(plus me!)

All of them made it a truly memorable day for me!

I still have lots of ice cream left too!

On Sunday after a potluck I went too Amanda and Jason came by on and taught me how to make Brownies!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I loved them so much I ate them ALL.. (and I got sick after eating them!)

After making Brownies Monica called to go Rock Climbing, so I walked over there and went climbing... after that we walked back into town. A good time!

On Monday we had a VERY VERY exciting computer security incident which I'm not going to talk about... but I ended up staying late at work.

On Tuesday I talked to Torsten to go climbing, but he couldn't make it. However his girlfriend Sarah could make it and I got a ride with her over to the gym. Sarah is TOTALLY AWESOME! I don't think I made as good of an impression on her and she made on me though! But... I really enjoyed myself! Also I found out she is going to the DMV so I have a ride out there. Also BIG fallout at work from yesterday's security incident.

On Wednesday I went over to my parents house and did computer stuff until I got home. I also introduced this computer guy over at the Network. I ate lunch with Lee at the Bouy Deck (my favorite place to eat...). I dressed up nice as well because somehow I thought Sarah was going over to the DMV that day and I wanted to look nice... for ONCE in a dmv photo. (but she wasn't going).

Thursday:
Got a ride out to the DMV, but the printers were down. So ended up spending an hour with zero accomplished. However I did manage to get a ride over to the rockdump instead of walking (which seems to happen quite a bit). Torsten Debbie and Sarah were there; Torsten and Debbie did lead climbing (which I don't know how to do). And Sarah and I did regular climbing... she is really good compared to me. Then after Climbing I went with Dance lessons with Debbie. (Amanda and Jason couldn't make it because Amanda was feeling a little sick). I can feel myself getting better while learning the fox trot. I still have a lot to learn, but it is SO EXCITING to feel myself getting better!

Friday (today):
Grabbed Lunch over at Bullwinkles. I was hanging out in Travis's cubicle eating my salad; anyway someone stopped by, anyway I don't know why I don't think before I open my mouth sometimes... ergh! I know I'm a bit "different" but I need to be more like Dexter in hiding it. (If you don't know the reference I'm speaking of... contact me and I'll send it to you... providing
you have media).

Anyway I stopped by Torsten and Amandas new office. I think I'm supposed to give her a grade on her job... she passed. I also talked to Leonard over there at DEC and he is going to teach me how to Kayack in May! This is terribly exciting as I've never Kayacked before and I've always wanted to do it.

After work I'm going to be doing a network quickbooks install then I'll stop by KTOO for Jason's exhibit.

I ordered new climbing shoes and a chaulk bag, and a backpack for mounting my snowboard so I can go boarding after the season ends.... :).

Tommorrow I'm going snowboarding with Brenda, then Ice Skating with Andrea after snowboarding!
