don’t eat 3 day old Smokey Jack sandwiches that are not refrigerated
Current mood: chipper
Category: Blogging

On friday I went to Bullwinkle's for Lunch, ended up eating with Tom, Gene and Jubal. I ordered a Smokey Jack.

In all reality I don't even order because the people at Bullwinkles just "know" me, and get things ready for me right away.

They give numbers to everyone else but when I get my meal they will yell, "here's smokey!"

or

"Myron I have your order ready for you!"

Does that mean I eat there too much?

Anyway, I ended up not eating my Smokey Jack sandwiches because I was having lunch with some other people and ended up eating some pizza and a salad then bringing the Smokey Jack home.

Here's another interesting thing, there is this girl at Bullwinkles which is really nice to me. I can tell because whenever I am there she always says hi to me, and if I see her on the street she says hi, and wants to chat. She doesn't work there very often, and I don't see her all of the time. I noticed she doesn't seem to stop and chat with the other customers either. Just me.

No one else at Bullwinkle's puts that much effort into me. What makes people do that? What makes some people just click... I don't know. Just for the record she isn't my type (I know SOMEBODY or multiple people will send a message wondering about that). She smokes and that is one thing which I cannot stand... ever. But because she is really nice to me makes me want to be nice back to her.

BUT....

I don't think I'm going to go to Bullwinkle's nearly as much anymore because I ate this sandwich that was 3 days old sitting on my desk and I got a stomach ache. Yeah it wasn't very much fun.

I'll probably only go to Bullwinkle's 2 times a week, instead of my normal 3-5 times a week.

Had a fun custom party on Saturday. I really like dressing up in something semi scary! It's kind of fun; and seeing everyone else make their costumes! Wow!

Just got back from Rock Climbing at the Rock Dump. I got farther than I've ever gotten before on a lead climb it was great! (I was hanging upside down!!!!!).

Sarah asked me if I want to go to Yoga tomorrow with her. Which I will probably go; (Bible study is not going to happen on Wednesday because of Halloween). I wouldn't mind dressing up though on Wednesday... just because, but I don't think I'll get the chance to do it again.

I'm too old now to go trick or treating or something. I wish I could though. Maybe I can just dress up in my little efficiency and scare myself!

Yeah, smoking ew. I think that your next project should be learning to cook. Then you wont have to go out to eat because you can make it yourself. Try cuisineathome.com Its a really good cooking magazine and the food is super yummy and easy. Well, I think its easy, Im not sure how a novice would do with it, but you should try!

Right next door to where I live there is this place called rainbowfoods, the entire store is organic clean good food. It is a bit expensive compared otherwise but it is very convenient.

Lately I've been starting to eat there.

Cooking by myself doesn't seem very enjoyable. I HATE fast food, and I like nice restaurants, but this rainbowfoods seems to be what I really like.

Plus they have these great organic drinks called Kombuchu, they run $3.69 a drink but... I think they are good for you. (have you heard of those drinks before?)

My Neighbour Part 3 (the conclusion)
Current mood: sleepy
Category: Romance and Relationships

I am up WAY too late posting this, but here it is... I hope nobody is disappointed in the conclusion and ending of this saga... here it is:

In reading this blog post go to Part 1 if you haven't read this part already:

Neighbour Part 1
Neighbour Part 2

Several days passed and I checked my mail and I got a reply from my neighbour.

I don't know how much leeway I have in posting her reply but I tried to make it as anonymous as

possible. Since nobody here probably knows her and she doesn't read my blog, and I'll anonymize

it enough so that nobody should be able to figure out who it is...

---
Hi Myron!! wow you're such a sweet and brave guy for sending this e-mail to a girl in need! now I

kinda wish I was the right xxxxxx!!

I actually live in x, just on the other side of the x, in the x. I joined the x network because

for some strange reason I couldn't find a x one. I guess we're not big enough to have our own

network. I hope the right xxxxx is alright but it sounded like she had a rough night.

Again, I appreciate the message even though it wasn't for me. We sure could use some neighbours

like you here in the xxx!

See ya!

xxxxxx

---
Ooops!!!

It appears I had a bug in my newly installed GNU Facial Recognition Software Version2 (I KNEW I should have recompiled and installed a new version!). I got the wrong person!

But... Wow, what a great response! For some reason it made me feel really really good. I don't know... happy as if I did something good but in reality I didn't make any difference at all. I guess compliments like calling me sweet and brave.. well, that sure makes my Knight in Shining armour complex of mine of a few days feel good. Even though I didn't actually do anything truly life threatening. Then for some reason or other I could now click on her profile and...

another terrible bug in my vision recognization program! It turns out the girl who I initially pegged as the neighbour Damsel in distress wasn't even the girl in trouble! There were two girls in the picture and it was the other one...

She was pretty... very much so. I really hate judging people by their looks though but I'm sorry to say but even I (yes me!) sometimes do notice people outward apperance. Anyway I definitly noticed her, so I sent back a response. I really turned on the flirting too.., maybe a little too strong... but here is the message I sent back.

I also wish you were the right xxxx too... But based on the short time of observing whats going on

I think it is safer that you are you! It appears everything isn't rocking in the xxxx that lives next door to me!

It was pretty hard to tell when I typed in xxxx the picture was so small. I haven't seen my neighbor very much as she just moved in while I was in Las Vegas for 12 days on a business trip. (I got in October 2nd).

I couldn't click on your profile, but for some reason today I can. She looks more like your sister (?) xxxxxx. I tried searching for "xxxx" on xxxxxxx and xxxxxx but only xxxxxx came back with a response. I haven't seen her since her big fight on monday with her (ex)-boyfriend where he was shouting her name at the top of his lungs. I think everyone knows her name now! (if only her first).

I went to xxxxxxx on a school trip once when I was in middle school! But that is it!

You are more than welcome to be apart of the xxxxx network, everyone here I am sure is honored by your presence of including yourself!

Just like me to mess things up, even when trying! But at least I got lucky and got a response from you, that sure made my day! Even though you are not a damsel in distress!

:)

-Myron

maybe the right thing to do would have been to simply not respond but... I guess that's what I

do.. just push it!

I think it was okay though, because several days later I got a friend request from her so...

meanwhile next door:

My nextdoor neighbour has picked up a new boyfriend. Things seemed to go fine for a few days

until yep... you guessed it! There was another fight!

Anyway I ran across her in the lobby and her eyes were black. Not black from being beaten, but hollow like... lots of drugs. I had two other people I ran across in the Hall (one guy who lived right across from her, and one who lived on the other side of her). I was told both of them put in complaints on my neighbour.

Evidently she makes a lot of noise and the guy across the hall said that he has heard her saying stuff like "give me some please", a lot, as in she is has a psychedelic drug addiction.

It is really sad. But I am SOO glad I didn't meet her, and I don't talk to her. She is pretty messed up right about now.

Any input on the message I sent and got back?

I guess that is the end of that.... (It is kind of sad... but...); I guess all good things come to an end.

Well, Im a little confused as to what was said because of all the "x's." But in general I think its a good thing that she responded in a positive way and wasnt weirded out. See, told you it was ok. :) But its also good that you didnt get involved with the crazy drug girl and her men either. If drugs were involved the outcome for you could have been bad. :) Good low key flirting by the way, very subtle, but still good enough to get your point across.

The X's were names of people or places.

I was trying not to give TOO much away by filtering stuff. Just in case;....

Does xxxx mean that person is in Juneau or not in Juneau? If she's in Juneau then I recommend continuing the flirtation ;)

How?

And looking back now I think the flirting was all one way. me to her, so... ... I certainly don't want to be that guy who hits on people who no one wants.

I'm afraid I already went too far already.

My Neighbour Part 2 (for sulie!)
Current mood: thoughtful
Category: Romance and Relationships

I'm posting this a couple of days early for Sulie because she needs a little entertainment.

in reading this blog post go to Part 1 if you haven't read this part already:

My Neighbour Part 1

Here I am going up the elevator, very nervous preparing to be the Knight in Shining armour with my secret plan in my hand.

As the elevator dinged open I looked down the Hall preparing for my inevitable crash into fate which I knew was probably a bad decision but I did think in the back of my mind. "This might be a good blog entry!".

The hallway was empty.

Nothing.

The crazy boyfriend was gone; I guess promising to stay till the cops came wasn't really his plan.

(this was probably REALLY REALLY good that this happened as you will find out later... whew! I dodged a close one there)

I went in and played some video games online and went to bed.

Having being completely foiled I decided hmm... maybe I can just look her up. I knew her name because it was the one name her boyfriend was shouting that wasn't a cuss word of some kind. So I went and did a little research through social networking software searching in Juneau.

And there she was! I didn't remember the girl next door THAT well (I've only seen her a couple of times), but she was on the right hand side of a picture with another girl. And she looked just like her, as she had a unique enough name and the picture looked about the same I succeeded in locating her with minimal effort! Her profile was private but I didn't get lazer surgery on my eyes for nothing! I have installed GNU/Linux Facial Recognition Software version2!

So I sat and wrote the following letter:

Hi,

I think I have the right person, typed in xxxxxxxx and you showed up at the top of the list and from the picture it looks similar.

Let me know if I got the wrong person, if not their is someone who looks just like you who lives in Juneau.

Got your name because your "boyfriend" (ex hopefully now) was yelling it and talking a lot of crap VERY loudly and I could hear it all the way in my apartment.

Actually I couldn't HELP but hear everything, as he was making sure everyone heard him.

I'm in xxxx you're in xxxx. Last night when he was pounding on your door and yelling I know I sure was uncomfortable I don't know about you, (I'd imagine the same).

I know we don't know each other but if you ever need anything just let me know. or call I'm at xxx-xxxx (home phone).

I was getting rid of my garbage noticed a key in the door not sure if you're moving or what, because when I returned the key was still in it.

Just your next door neighbour; if you ever need anything let me know. I hope everything is working out.

-Myron

Well, at least I did my good deed for the day albeit in a slightly stalkerish fashion but hey at least I'm good at something!

But as it turns out a few days later...

(to be continued)

What would you YOU do if you got a message like this?

Would it have been creepy? wierd? Or just seem like a nice guy like me actually trying to make a difference?

In my continueing quest of becoming more open I am trying!

What would have been a better way to do this?

Myron

Whew!

I guess you're right.

That's one vote for weird!

Now what if the scenario was this:

You have a girlfriend then suddenly she's pounding on the door and everything, then the girl next door sends you a message like that checking to see if you are alright.

You still would be weirded out wouldn't you?

Well what I can see in retrospect when the rest comes out you will see it was a MUCH better plan sending a message than leaving a note. (at least I think so).

Heather

Ok, if I was the girl, I would be embarrassed. But only because my jerk of a BF was being so incredibly obnoxious that my neighbor felt the need to contact me about it. But I wouldnt feel weird about getting a myspace message about it, I kinda feel like if your on myspace your using it for a networking tool to meet people or whatever, so its fair game. :)

POST MORE~!! POST MORE~!!!

Myron

That is an interesting outlook;

I never thought about it from the girls point of view of being embarrassed. I was thinking about it from my view, as in should _I_ be embarrassed or anything for contacting an individual without them asking for it.

Hmm...

But in this case I just decided to go for it. I only live once, and at least I tried to make a difference that is better than doing nothing at all right?

Amanda

I would guess that she would have been weirded out. NOT because you're creepy, but because people just never expect anyone in real life (that isn't their friend but knows them indirectly) to find them on MySpace and contact them.

At my old office someone left their wallet somewhere. We didn't know who it was (we think it was one of the janitor's helpers) and there was no contact info in the wallet. I did find this guy's profile on MySpace and I sent him a message. He was a little weirded out but appreciative.

Excellent blog entry! Please...post more!

Yeah I see,

Pretty much right from the start I come off as the creepy guy :(.

Kind of sad really....

It was all Travis’s fault (and how I came to meddle in the affairs of others and didn’t learn)
Current mood: accomplished
Category: Romance and Relationships

1st rule: when something goes wrong, blame it on someone else!

When I was in Las Vegas the other week Travis and I were wandering around looking for food, we looked into NYNY, but but nothing looked good. So we wandered into the MGM Grand and ended up eating at the "Rainforest Cafe", which by the way was very good!

As you know from the previous blog entry Travis has been teaching me (successfully I might add) to flirt with girls.

I'm a totally newbie at this; but Travis has given me lots of pointers and says that I'm a natural. Because I'm "genuine". (I don't come off as a fake). Yeah for me!

At this point I'm in a very good mood after successfully flirting with one girl at the Cheese Cake Factory.

I'm having a good time, and our waitor (NOT waitress!), finds out we are from Alaska and becomes very friendly and nice.

Jorge is his name.

While we were having our meal this other waitress named Andi stops by and checks up on us several times to make sure that we are having a good time. She mentions that Jorge is a really great guy. So, I decide to have a little fun. I know the more wise among you can already see where this is going... but me being the noobie that I am didn't see it.

But to give me some credit Travis didn't see it coming either!

And he was the master and I was the apprentice so..... It is all Travis's fault.

So I mention to Jorge about how Andi was talking about him and how she thought very highly of him. Just to pass it along, he then mentions some nice things about Andi; which I promptly next time Andi comes by let her know.

This happens a couple of times until at one point Andi comes up with a Pen and a napkin telling me that Jorge wanted to get a number for later. She then backs away saying, I don't want to know anything about whats going to happen.

I was really embarrassed. But at the same time I was very flattered, I wasn't sure if I should leave a message saying thanks, but no thanks. Or anything.

He came back again and we had some laughs about everything; but I think he was a little disappointed that I didn't give him my number. Not sure what I should have done actually.

That'll teach me to sow chaos around me!

but did it?

I get back from Las Vegas and there is a new girl that has moved next door to me.

Anyway on Monday night her boyfriend starts yelling and pounding on the door, and calling the door various names to little effect.

(evidently this wasn't one of those doors you yell at and they open, he didn't try open sesame though... that would have been my first guess)

This goes on for about an hour. He is yelling about wanting $120 bucks. Calling her the following names "****" "***" "*****", multiple variations of those names too, he evidently felt the same about her as the door too because he used those words on the door as well.

He was yelling about how he was going to stay until the cops arrive. I wanted to go over there and "save" her.

But I didn't know how too.

So I thought and thought and figured... maybe I have $120 bucks... nope I lost everything gambling in Las Vegas :(.

So I left my house keeping it so I didn't look at him as he stood foolishly outside of her door. (and didn't yell while I was in the Hall for some reason).

I then went to the ATM, grabbed $200 bucks from it and walked back.

How was I going to do this? I thought of millions (well I'm exagerating there probably a few) different ways of approaching this.

The goal was: Get him away without causing any trouble thereby increasing her happiness as I felt he was at that moment adversely affecting her life.

So I counted out $120 dollars and had them in my hand (maybe he would leave if he got $120 bucks)... it wasn't a big deal for me.

So my heart was pounding huge as I got into the elevator and headed up, the door dinged open and...

To be continued...

(And her name is Roxy)
