Monday I got up early in the morning... got to the airport and Chris Barrey found me... we had a good conversation. He was heading up to Fairbanks but his flight got delayed because of the snowstorm on Sunday.
In line I met this girl that was from Petersburg turns out we both know some of the same people... small world.
Chris should remember who she was. Anyway I ended up giving her a ride home. She graduated in 2004 from petersburg and is going for psychology at UAA. Pretty active person it seems.
She wasn't sure the best way to get home to it took a while to arrive at her place. I then helped carry her stuff up the stairs. As I left I said "have a nice life!", and she said have a nice rest of your trip.
Later that evening I was bored, I don't know if it would have been bad but I almost wish I would have asked her to dinner or something because I wanted to do something with someone... and I went out and got lost and I would have had more fun if there was someone else to do stuff with.
Next day I went to 5th avenue mall and JC Penney had a 70% sale going on, I bought 3 ties and 2 new shirts! Not top of the line brands but medium level.
I also went by REI and got a new snowboading helmet, and some yaktrax, and a nice neoprene face mask.
Then I went by tidalwave books and got a new book by S.M. Stirling called Conquistador. A VERY good book!
It was a very good book!
The other thing was my hotel room was bigger than my whole apartment!! amazing, two big beds, 2 rooms kitchenette and big bathroom... a lot of room! Probably the biggest hotel I've been in yet...
I'm supposed to get in to Juneau tonight if the planes fly... I hope they do.

Excellent blog! But sorry you were bored in Anchorage. I should have sent you up with a shopping list. ;)
I was only bored Monday night... and I was tired anyway so it was okay!
I can relate to the faint feeling of regret in not having the courage or forethought to initiate an adventure with a stranger - perhaps in some serendipitous turn of fate, she'll be on your next flight as well. Or some other interesting person.
I've had stuff like this happen in the past but I never actually "DO" anything about it.
This experience is pretty amazing for me anyway as I never really go any where. It's kind of strange really, she could have gotten a ride home through various means but somehow I looked "safe" or something I don't know what. When taking her home I had this flashback of when I was a kid of "Don't talk to strangers" and "Don't don't ride with people you don't know".
Of course I could have been the one in real danger, but I felt pretty safe. I guess she just felt the same way about me.
Wierd huh? You don't know anything about anybody on the plane and a person connects with someone no in your aisle, didn't sit next to you... only standing next to each other in line. A strange turn of fate.
