Currently Annie Smith, Sarah Cunningham, Ashleigh Arledge, Nils Gellhouse, Sherry and Amanda Gellhouse came to the writing club... read their stories too!
Today was writing club and I couldn't think of something to write about, so I thought I would write about my best friend I have ever had.
My friend Kyle.
In life sometimes you make a connection and have a best friend. To me that friend is Kyle T Smith from Nevada. You can read his blog at http://sweetooth.org.
I originally met him at lunch in the computer lab when we would play decent matches when I was a sophomore in High School.
He was unassuming and quiet and I never really noticed him. It wasn't until I was a Junior in High School and in Mrs. Doherty's class that I really got to know him.
Kyle and I had the same interests he was into computers, intelligent and we became very good friends.
He helped me in some classes (staying awake) making sure I did my homework and everything.
Basically with Kyle if I ever needed something or I was in trouble in anyway I could count on him and he has continually watched out for me to this day.
Doing lots of work on my BBS. When I needed a laptop giving me a laptop. When I needed help with my house in Nevada spending hours and hours and hours going through it with a fine tooth comb and saving my bacon when I wasn't there and it needed to be done.
Giving me advice. Helping me get a good job. Having me over to his house for dinner and just hanging out. Playing games on the internet. When I needed something done in an emergency and I didn't have the time nobody else could I count on but Kyle to get everything done.
Kyle has the brains to make things work, and is someone I can count on.
Has it always been a perfect relationship... no. Have we had disagreements about things... yes. But that is the test of a true friendship, to overcome disagreements and problems and between us we have.
We have been through some harrowing times together such as going down Interstate 395 and me losing control of my pathfinder and doing a 360 on the ice coming inches away from death with another vehicle.
Attempting to hide from the police in the chevelle in the Nevada desert and then blaming everything on Garrett and friends when we were caught thereby getting away scott free.
Kyle supporting me instead of Eric N. who seemed to dislike me utterly and completely.
And how I heard from others how he venamently supported me several times when I wasn't there and always sticking up for me.
Also doing general maintenance and support of me for MONTHS while I lived in Alaska and my house was on the market in Reno.
So now being friends with Kyle for about 12-13 years and me not even living in the same city we have stayed in touch and talk about this and that still.
What that shows is if a friendship can withstand 7 years apart it can withstand anything.
I know Kyle would help me if I needed it in whatever way he could, and I would do the same for him. Why? Because that is what friends are.
Last time I saw him was when I was with him for Leighanne's wedding in Reno. When I got uncomfortable I knew he would be there to rescue me, and he was! (You can read about that blog earlier...).
So... throughout my life Kyle has been there and I hope I have been there for him as well. I expect we will be friends till we die.
Without Kyle my life would be completely different.
