La Mode Francais

In October 1996 the genius of Jessica "Jessie" Mcintosh came together with Jessica Albrent and Myron Davis to create a truly amazing video.

The video details a French fashion show of the '70's with brilliant designs and models Myron, Jessica and Jessica with different fancy wear and dancing!!!

We had a lot of fun making this movie. Jessica Albrent sent this to me right as she left back to Pakistan and Jessica McIntosh... well you can read detailed information about her in one of my previous blogs :P.

Anyway I have the video in several formats:

1, download and save the high quality version (about 85MB for 6 minutes): (right click and click save as to save it to your local disk)
La Mode Francais

then download a video player at: http://www.xvidmovies.com/players/
I highly recommend media player classic.

You'll also need the xvid codec which is at:
http://www.xvidmovies.com/codec/
Both the Mac OSX and the Windows codecs are at that sight.

2, OR watch it the easy way on google video at:

Heather

OMG, I cant believe that you would post this masterpeice for people to see. lol. I am hoping that it was the result of a terrible high school assignment and not due to the lack of anything entertaining to do in G-ville. Im also hoping that your weekly dance class has improved your moves! lol! :)

Myron

it is a wonderful masterpiece!

And you know what... I really enjoyed it too! even though I have terrible moves in this video my current moves have GREATLY increased... I might be able to post my fox trot demo to show what I was able to do, and my waltz moves have gotten pretty good too!

Although Jessica and Jessica had fantastic moves!

In anchorage... a bit bored actually

Monday I got up early in the morning... got to the airport and Chris Barrey found me... we had a good conversation. He was heading up to Fairbanks but his flight got delayed because of the snowstorm on Sunday.

In line I met this girl that was from Petersburg turns out we both know some of the same people... small world.

Chris should remember who she was. Anyway I ended up giving her a ride home. She graduated in 2004 from petersburg and is going for psychology at UAA. Pretty active person it seems.

She wasn't sure the best way to get home to it took a while to arrive at her place. I then helped carry her stuff up the stairs. As I left I said "have a nice life!", and she said have a nice rest of your trip.

Later that evening I was bored, I don't know if it would have been bad but I almost wish I would have asked her to dinner or something because I wanted to do something with someone... and I went out and got lost and I would have had more fun if there was someone else to do stuff with.

Next day I went to 5th avenue mall and JC Penney had a 70% sale going on, I bought 3 ties and 2 new shirts! Not top of the line brands but medium level.

I also went by REI and got a new snowboading helmet, and some yaktrax, and a nice neoprene face mask.

Then I went by tidalwave books and got a new book by S.M. Stirling called Conquistador. A VERY good book!

It was a very good book!

The other thing was my hotel room was bigger than my whole apartment!! amazing, two big beds, 2 rooms kitchenette and big bathroom... a lot of room! Probably the biggest hotel I've been in yet...

I'm supposed to get in to Juneau tonight if the planes fly... I hope they do.

Renee

U seem to keep amused with your time. Next time be spontanious and go with your mood. :)
Its the thought that jumps at you and creates the moment! :) Take it easy!

I know a few things about puking... and how my day went today (dancing and snowboarding)

I know a few things about puking... and how my day went today (dancing and snowboarding)
I'll get to the puking part a bit later...

Today:
I went up with Torsten Ernst, Alex Wishart, Sarah Cunningham snowshoeing up showboat. Had a great run snowboarding down. Then we went and I ate a double cheeseburger. Then we went out till ~3:30-4:00 and practiced jumping. I had a great time.

Then I went home and got ready for a night of dancing with Debbie Maas. I had a good time, but.... the instructor who taught the one dance took FOREVER. I felt it would never end. Also there were a couple of girls in the table next to me that seemed a bit uncomfortable and I wanted for them to have a good time.

Anyway... Debbie got asked to dance for the next waltz right before the class teaching some dance I don't even remember anymore (a cowboy dance I think); anyway... The two girls had no dates and obviously did not want to dance together and seemed pretty uncomfortable. I know this because I was leading Debbie and they were right in front of us. Then they went off to the side and got frustrated because they couldn't get back on and I could tell they were not having much fun. So they went back to their seats and sat down... and waited... and waited... and waited... it was the lesson that never ended.

Debbie was also getting frustrated at how long the lesson was going for a dance she didn't want to learn so we went out to get some water.

While I was out there I met the two girls and I tried to be nice as they were obviously leaving because they were frusterated so I tried some "Myron Charm" which appeared to be partially successful as I said I was going to ask one of them to the next dance but they were leaving. They seemed both relieved and happy that I did. But they said they were just going to go out for a while to dinner and would be back and they would dance with me.

I thought that was a little strange because I knew if they left the dance wasn't supposed to be that long and they probably wouldn't go back.

But I felt that I did a good thing anyway by trying to make them included.

I finished the rest of the night and went home... now the next part nothing related to the first part but another story I wrote for writing club.

When I was fishing I learned a few things about throwing up

My dad was a commercial fisherman; and because of that I spent every summer on the boat fishing. He made me wake up at 4:30 in the morning and work all day.

Unfortunately I get very very sea sick.

Here are the WORST things to throw up:

Raisin Brand. The reason for this is when it goes down it is with milk. However when you throw it up your stomach and sucked all of the milk out of the raisin brand, so you are essentially throwing up a solid and it is very very painful as it comes up and you cannot breath as the raise brand gets stuck in your throat.

Fig Newtons are very bad... because, well I can't actually put a finger on it but it could have something to do with while you are feeling very very sick your Dad is constantly popping fig newton bars in his mouse thereby you directly correlate fig newtons with nauseousness.

I won't eat fig newtons to this day.

Chips... depending upon what kind of chips but the hard corn chips are the worst... especially if you didn't chew them up into nice eatable pieces... because if you just ate them they have the potential to come back up with sharp edges scraping the inside of your throat.

BEST things to throw up:

Tapioca pudding... goes down good, comes up good! And you get to taste it twice one on the way down, 2 on the way back up!

Canned Oranges... a little acidic but if you get the right syrup you won't regret throwing up a small box of canned oranges!

other notable things about throwing up:

Eventually with dry heaving all you do is cough up this green bile and blood... and it REALLY hurts at that point. Then the best thing to do is hang your head over the side of the boat and wish you were dead.

Another bad things for throwing up is when you find a salmon (few are like this) where the insides are completely rotten out, and when you cut into the salmon there is this odor/taste something. Somehow some really bad liquid sack burst inside the salmon and it is terrible inside there.

having fun while throwing up:

Mountain Dew... if you are constantly throwing up try drinking mountain dew... even though you are so sick you can hardly move and weak from not eating for such a long time it can be entertaining as the bubbly soda mixes with your nauseous stomach causing huge sprays of vomit to come out of your mouth barely missing nearby people.

It feels somewhat satisfying as it is really THERE fault you are there throwing up anyway... and if you hit them... well you'll get a small amount of joy for a short amount of time then regret it as usually the other person does not love you shooting throw up all over them from long distances.

recommendations on NOT throwing up:

Make sure the sea is calm.

Make sure the sky is blue.

Go on a big boat, or better yet don't go out on the ocean at all.

The sea air blowing on your face DOES help some.

Also if you can sleep that can help sometimes but at a certain point the waves will become so rough that you will have terrible nightmares as you are thrown up in the air while sleeping. Interesting experience everyone should try it once.

However sometimes you will wake up with barely enough time to not get throw in your bed which is something I do not recommend doing.

So... that is my recommendations on throwing up! I hope it didn't gross you out too much!
And thus ends another boring Blog of Me!

Micah

Good job dancing Myron, go one for the white guy!

Throwing up isnt fun.. I only hurl if I drink too much and thats not fun! I have a hard time with long islands heheh.. all I can really do now adays is drinks with mint and beer.... may be a good thing:)

Posted by Micah on Saturday, January 12, 2008 at 11:05 PM

Myron

Of COURSE you bring up alcohol... there might be a plus side (somewhere?) to throwing up with alcohol but allow me to tell you there is NO plus side with being seasick... or at least none that I have found!

sulie

You may not have gotten to dance with those girls, but it was nice of you to go out of your way to try to include them anyway. Maybe they had a nice conversation over dinner about the nice guy who asked them to dance. :) You never know.

I enjoyed reading your writing club story about puking. I know it wouldn't have been funny at the time, but I found your commentary quite hilarious. I was actually laughing while I was reading it. (And I feel kind of silly laughing by myself in my room with no one around.) I could share some "good things to puke" and "bad things to puke" but I think I'll pass. hahah

Anyway, good blog!! :)

I know that I am the odd duck in the bunch, but man, I love puke stories. Especially fishing boats + puke stories. Ive been on fishing boats on the sea too and I know what you mean. I was sicker than a dog even though I had taken dramamine. :)

Posted by Heather on Sunday, January 13, 2008 at 5:17 PM

Myron

Wow.... now that is surprising that you like puke stories!

I'm not sure if Dramamine works for me... I never used it when I was little so... no idea. Also does it have any bad side affects or anything? I'm always Leary of drugs.

Writing club. What should I write about? Kyle

Currently Annie Smith, Sarah Cunningham, Ashleigh Arledge, Nils Gellhouse, Sherry and Amanda Gellhouse came to the writing club... read their stories too!

Today was writing club and I couldn't think of something to write about, so I thought I would write about my best friend I have ever had.

My friend Kyle.

In life sometimes you make a connection and have a best friend. To me that friend is Kyle T Smith from Nevada. You can read his blog at http://sweetooth.org.

I originally met him at lunch in the computer lab when we would play decent matches when I was a sophomore in High School.

He was unassuming and quiet and I never really noticed him. It wasn't until I was a Junior in High School and in Mrs. Doherty's class that I really got to know him.

Kyle and I had the same interests he was into computers, intelligent and we became very good friends.

He helped me in some classes (staying awake) making sure I did my homework and everything.

Basically with Kyle if I ever needed something or I was in trouble in anyway I could count on him and he has continually watched out for me to this day.

Doing lots of work on my BBS. When I needed a laptop giving me a laptop. When I needed help with my house in Nevada spending hours and hours and hours going through it with a fine tooth comb and saving my bacon when I wasn't there and it needed to be done.

Giving me advice. Helping me get a good job. Having me over to his house for dinner and just hanging out. Playing games on the internet. When I needed something done in an emergency and I didn't have the time nobody else could I count on but Kyle to get everything done.

Kyle has the brains to make things work, and is someone I can count on.

Has it always been a perfect relationship... no. Have we had disagreements about things... yes. But that is the test of a true friendship, to overcome disagreements and problems and between us we have.

We have been through some harrowing times together such as going down Interstate 395 and me losing control of my pathfinder and doing a 360 on the ice coming inches away from death with another vehicle.

Attempting to hide from the police in the chevelle in the Nevada desert and then blaming everything on Garrett and friends when we were caught thereby getting away scott free.

Kyle supporting me instead of Eric N. who seemed to dislike me utterly and completely.

And how I heard from others how he venamently supported me several times when I wasn't there and always sticking up for me.

Also doing general maintenance and support of me for MONTHS while I lived in Alaska and my house was on the market in Reno.

So now being friends with Kyle for about 12-13 years and me not even living in the same city we have stayed in touch and talk about this and that still.

What that shows is if a friendship can withstand 7 years apart it can withstand anything.

I know Kyle would help me if I needed it in whatever way he could, and I would do the same for him. Why? Because that is what friends are.

Last time I saw him was when I was with him for Leighanne's wedding in Reno. When I got uncomfortable I knew he would be there to rescue me, and he was! (You can read about that blog earlier...).

So... throughout my life Kyle has been there and I hope I have been there for him as well. I expect we will be friends till we die.

Without Kyle my life would be completely different.

Myron signing off --

Friends like this are very important. I have a few of them, and they all live in Juneau. :) You're right, if a friendship can withstand complications and distance, it can withstand for a lifetime!

When I first told my family about me being _____ they didn't believe me

In writing club today one of the assignment was to write the title but replace it with something... and that is what I did.

When I first told my family about me being pregnant they didn't believe me.

First they thought it was some one else... after all I'm a guy I'm not supposed to get pregnant.

How did this happen?

Somehow through some strange twist of fate I became the first person to be able to asexually reproduce.

A miracle.

Well it didn't feel like one to me... here I was a guy who had an exact duplicate of myself growing inside me.

I claimed loud and wide that this was true, and it seemed that the louder I yelled the truth the more I got strange looks.

I felt distanced, I would call my friends up and they were always "busy" or "had to go", or the phone just would not answer.

The more I was ignored I knew they would listen to me if I yelled louder.

So as I grew fatter I became louder. I told the newspapers, I called my friends and asked if they wanted to feel my something growing inside of me.

I put in a claim for maternity leave for work... surprise surprise the insurance carrier did not require me to be a woman for me to get medical coverage.

The "new age" doctors couldn't believe I was pregnant and kept on telling me otherwise. So I'd yell at them for not supporting me and go to another doctor for a second opinion.

Soon I had no friends.

then 9 months later after I got my "all you can eat at McDonald's winner" the all you can eat membership expired.

How was my baby going to grow if I didn't feed it... I called my ex-friends up and left long voice mail messages telling them if they didn't by me mcdonalds they were going to kill the baby growing inside of me.

Then the baby died... after I stopped eating at McDonald's it died inside of me and became smaller.

In the end... I lost my friends, I lost my credibility, I lost my job, I got disowned by my family, the medical community scoffed at me, I got hungry, and worst of all I lost my baby.

How was that...

Annie Smith, Sarah Cunningham, Ashleigh Arledge, Nils Gellhouse, Sherry and Amanda Gellhouse came to the writing club... read their stories too!

So... whats been going on in my life recently?

Pretty much everyday I've been doing something.

I've been going snowboarding a lot! Rock climbing regularly, eating good food, seeing some movies with friends... you know... just this and that!

I also managed to spill some kombucha on one of my ties... totally sucks. I sent it off to Alaska Laundry, hopefully they can fix the silk tie... I really don't want it to be ruined forever.

I had lunch with Lee today which was good as always!

My plans for the next few days are as follows:

Tomorrow Thursday:
Going climbing after work; then I'm going to the writing club... I am sure anyone who wants to go is welcome... here is the intro message:

---
I'd like to propose our next Writing Club for this Thursday (January 10) from 6 to 9pm at the Waffle House. I'm trying to coordinate this so Sheri and Nils can participate, but let me know if you'd prefer another time and we'll try to work around their schedule.

Annie will bring her brilliant idea books, so we can do some fun writing exercises or just write on whatever project you have in the works. Bring your laptops (if that's what you prefer) or a notebook to write in. We can order waffles for dinner.

Our general format is to spend the first two hours writing and the last hour sharing what we wrote and discussing it.

Please R.S.V.P. in case the time/location changes at the last minute!
---

Then on Friday:
I'm having lunch with Debbie Maas which will be good.
then I'm going over to Shawna's for her get together.

Then on Saturday:
I'm going snowboarding,
then I'm going to a Dance thing with Debbie.

Then on Monday, I'm flying up to Anchorage, then flying back on Wednesday night...

So that is my plans for the next few days!

Also I'm working on converting all of my myspace blogs over to blogger... you can read them at http://myrondavis.org; but I'm going to keep the myspace blog and the blogger blog synchronized. I haven't completely finished updating everything at http://myrondavis.org; but the old blogs are a lot easier to see and I pulled in some old blogs from before myspace.

I'll continue to import stuff into google blogger.

I want to let everyone know if they want to be included in things just let me know! I'm always open!

Me versus HotOrNot (expanding my horizons)
Category: Friends

So I posted my picture in facebook on hot or not.

This was me exploring my exterior boundaries in attempting to see how bad I could be humiliated and try something new.

So I took my current profile picture and posted it. There is also a section called "Meet me".

So I filled it out and I read the instructions. From what I could see I click "meet me", then yes or no, and if the other person clicks yes suddenly a message appears saying a match was made.

Anyway I was intrigued... it appeared I could anonymously click yes, and if the other person anonymously clicked yes then suddenly both were notified.

The reality of everything was completely different.. as soon as you click yes the other person gets a message saying a person wants to meet me.

But I was blissfully unaware, I went through the whole world and just started clicking YES or NO on people. I think I racked up a lot of clicks. I wasn't too worried about it because if we both clicked yes I would still have a chance to confirm it.

At least that is what I believed. So I was bored and I happily rated people for a while and clicked yes and no on people... a lot of people... all over the world.

I knew I was safe because the chance of that some person randomly on the internet clicking yes on me was pretty small and it was... well dangerously exciting clicking yes on people.

Little did I know I was happily sending "meet me" messages to all kinds of people!!!!

Later I found out I was happily sending "meet me" messages... but here is something cool my picture was rated 8.3!

Although the moment I found out that was the case I deleted my account.

Anyway I created a new account and this time I didn't click yes on anyone and I just finished deleting it after one day. I got 5.5 on my score and... I guess I was a little dissappointed.

now normal things:

Went to dinner with Sarah, Ashleigh, Jason, Annie, Amanda and Debbie today for "book club" after work at that Thai place in Auke Bay. Took quite a while to scrape the ice off of the blue truck. After that I went climbing... I really like doing that.

Yesterday I ate a GREAT pizza over at Amanda's... it was really good! Tomorrow I'm going snowboarding and I think climbing after that. (back to back days are pretty cool to do now and then :P ).

Well... that's that in Myron's world!

Oh Myron, you crap me up!!! I seriously had to laugh out loud at the dangerously exciting comment, your too funny. I am however, a little dissapointed in you. I think you should have actually talked to some of the people you rated hot or whatever. At least it would really broaden your horizons. Besides, its not like youd actually have to talk to ALL of them, just the really interesting ones. But, none the less, kudos for at least partially attempting something new. BTW see I told you your cute! :)

Myron

I think I broadened my horizons quite enough!

Thanks for the support :).
